Several news sources have been reporting that Barack Obama has picked Delaware Senator and Scranton native Joe Biden as his VP running mate. What are your thoiughts? Does this help or hurt the ticket? Are you more or less likely for vote for Barack Obama now?
Here's my two cents: It's a good, solid pick. Some will be upset that he didn't pick Hillary Clinton, but I seriously doubt that was in the cards to begin with. The Clinton's collectively have an ego that's too big for the VP job. However Joe Biden brings a lot to the ticket in the way of experience, and it doesn't hurt to have a Scranton native being "a heartbeat away" from the presidency. This does make me feel better about the Democratic ticket in the fall.
Now let's see what John McCain does. Will he "pull a Dan Quayle" and pick someone grossly incompletent, but pleasing to fringe groups, or will he pick someone like Tom Ridge, who is certainly qualified, but not so pleasing to the far-right of the GOP?

I'll be voting for McCain. If Biden stayed in the Presidential race, my husband would most certainly have voted for him. But he won't vote for him as second banana to that guy.
I did enjoy reading the articles in the Sunday paper about him, though.
I was voting for Obama for his stance on healthcare ... I just think he has a better grasp on it than McCain does. I like Biden ... I would have voted for him for president also had he stayed in it ... and not because he was originally from Scranton ... but because I think that he would do a great job ... and I think that Obama made a good choice by picking Obama ... sorry for this Thursday ... but I'm hoping to end the Bush era ... it's time for a change. That's just my opinion.
