What Are Your Thoughts On Sarah Palin?

Good move on McCain's part, or is this just a female Dan Quayle?

It's been widely reported that she was not seriously considered as a running mate until the end, when it became apparent that the Democrates weren't going to implode over the Hillary vs. Obama feud. As such, I'm thinking that just another middle-aged white guy just wouldn't cut it for McCain...he needed a novelty act, something that would steal attention away from the Obama camp. Presto, you have Sarah Palin.

Is this a play for disguntled Hillary voters?
My opinion...only in the GOPs dreams. The only thing she shares with Hillary Clinton is female genitals. I would think that most Hillary voters are farily liberal when it comes to social issues, so why then would they vote for a pro-life, pro-gun, pro-Creationism candidate? The answer is that they will not. If the GOP wanted a true conservative female who is actually qualified for the position they could have picked Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Is this a play for hardcore conservative voters?
My opinion...over the course of the campaign, yes. Palin will do for McCain what Quayle did for Bush I...provide him with some conservative "Street Cred". The fact that bloated conservative hypocrit Rush Limbaugh, who complained constantly about McCain, now gets a stiffy whenever you mention the word 'Palin' is atypical of what I think they really want to achive.

Bottom line for me: This is like a brilliant set of fireworks on the 4th of July...very bright now, but eventually it will burn out and people will realize "hey, if we elect John McCain and he dies in office, the governor of 600,000 people for a year and a half will become the leader of the most powerful nation on Earth". It will help McCain with the base, but all of those disgruntled Hillary supporters will never vote for someone who holds the views of Sarah Palin.

John McCain has moved me closer to holding my nose and voting for Barack Obama.

Well, I have not even given this woman a second thought ... I think that you are right Ag ... McCain made this choice thinking that women will vote for this team because he put a woman on the ticket ... it will take more than that for me to be convinced ... I was a Hillary supporter ... and now I am an Obama/Biden supporter ... not because it's a democrat thing to do ... but because I am liking the ideas for healthcare that Obama has over John McCain ... I like that Obama is not going to try and shut me up with a Gas Tax Holiday ... that will do nothing for the rising cost of fuel.

People complain about the lack of qualifications on Obamas part ... well ... Palin ... has no qualificatios what so ever ... not that Maternity leave is a bad thing but didn't she spend part of the year in office on maternity leave? So really how long has she been governing Alaska? But I really don't know how true that is ... it is something I heard and have no proof of ...

For me it's Obama/Biden.

LOVE HER -- the woman's got more testicular fortitude than Obama and Biden put together. She has shown so much integrity in these few short days that she has been in the national spotlight. First, the sniping and nitpicking about her daughter and now the dems are grasping at straws trying to find even the smallest of ways to discredit her. Are they finding anything?? umm, NO. I am so sick and tired of all the nonsense - "She was all for (insert daily snit here) until she changed her mind about it."

Obama's just pissed because he's been at the top of the political heap for the better part of a year and she came on the scene speaking the way she does and (let's be honest) looking the way she does and the tides have turned on him. I wouldn't doubt Michelle Obama's a little p.o.'ed the attention isn't all wrapped around her these days. That, and the fact that she needed a PR team for her to be "put together" and told to tone it down about how proud she FINALLY is of her country.

Sarah Palin went from the PTA to the office of Mayor to the Governor's office in a few short years. She didn't get there on her good looks. She was chosen for VP nominee because of what she stands for and what her beliefs are, because of what kind of mother she is, because of what kind of American she is.

I can't wait to see her go up against Hillary in 2012. She'll sweep Clinton back to Arkansas where she belongs.

"She'll sweep Clinton back to Arkansas where she belongs."

Wouldn't that be Illinois? Or New York? Or would it be Pennsylvania?

I don't know about the people of Illinois or New York, but this Pennsylvanian isn't claiming any rights to her. Nah, ship her back to Arkansas with that husband of hers and let her live out her days in Lil' Rock.

RE: What Are Your Thoughts On Sarah Palin?

On last night evening news John McCain was asked the question ... "Will you support Sarah Palin in her bid for the office of President in 2012?" I actually could not believe his answer ... he said that there were many more qualified governors that might be seeking this office and that he could not at this time say that he would support her (not exact words) ... Now I am wondering ... if this is the way the man feels ... why in the world did he ever as this woman to be his running mate? It just made absolutely no sense to me ... if he felt there were more qualified governors then why did he not ask one of them to be his running mate.

I am no fan of Sarah's but come on Mr. McCain ... you didn't feel she was the most qualified when you asked her to run with you ... to possibly have her be President should something happen to you ... wow ... I don't even know what else to say about that!

Only this ... Am I glad you lost!
